This policy describes how Forest Companion (the “Service”) collects, uses, and safeguards personal information in our web application and conversational interfaces.

Summary
We only collect what we need to provide and improve Forest Companion. Your conversations stay private by default, and we never sell personal data. You control whether transcripts are stored, shared with teammates, or deleted.
Information we collect
- Account data such as name, email address, workspace details, and payment status.
- Chat transcripts, prompts, uploaded files, and artifacts you create within Forest Companion.
- Usage diagnostics including device type, browser version, IP-derived location, and feature events.
- Support conversations and survey responses that help us understand product satisfaction.
How we use information
- Operate and secure the Forest Companion application and underlying AI services.
- Customize character behaviors, conversation starters, and interface hints.
- Detect abuse, investigate outages, and maintain the reliability of the platform.
- Analyze aggregated usage to prioritize new features and measure adoption.
- Comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms of service, and prevent fraud.
When we share information
- Service providers that host infrastructure, process payments, or deliver notifications under strict contracts.
- AI model providers or processors that transform your prompts into responses, subject to confidentiality agreements.
- Law enforcement or regulators when required to respond to valid legal requests.
- Business transfers, such as a merger or acquisition, where safeguards remain in place.
Data retention & controls
- We retain account information while your subscription is active and delete or anonymize it within 90 days of closure unless law requires longer storage.
- Conversation history can be cleared in the product UI at any time; deleting a conversation removes associated transcripts from primary systems.
- Backups are encrypted, access-controlled, and automatically purged on a rolling schedule.
Your rights
- Access, correct, or export the personal data we store about you.
- Object to certain processing activities or request restriction of processing.
- Request deletion of personal information, subject to applicable retention requirements.
- Appeal decisions or raise concerns if you believe your privacy rights were not respected.
Security
- Encryption in transit and at rest for customer content.
- Role-based access controls, audit logging, and automatic session expiration.
- Secure development practices, regular penetration testing, and monitoring for anomalous activity.
